I had a Dream About the Second Coming of Jesus

Do you believe in the Second Coming of Jesus?
See results without votingI was doing one-on-one Bible studies with a guy named Ivan. We had just completed a lesson on the prophetic dream of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 2: the statue made of four metals. We discussed how the rock destroying the statue represents the Rock, Jesus Christ, destroying this world and setting up His kingdom.
What a Coincidence!
At the conclusion of our study, I asked Ivan, “If Jesus were to return today, do you have the assurance of eternal life?”
He replied, “It’s funny you should ask, because last night I dreamed that Jesus returned. Bright beams of light were breaking through the dark clouds above and illuminating people all around me. They were being raptured to Heaven as they clasped their hands together and bowed their heads in prayer. I bowed my head and prayed too, but I didn’t feel anything. In frustration, I gave up. I dropped my hands to my sides and looked up. I felt lost.”
Then I asked Ivan, “Would you like me to share with you how you can have the assurance of salvation?”
He said, “Yes, please.”
We read 1 John 5:11-13:
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Salvation Through Jesus
I continued, “The Word of God assures us that we are saved if we believe in Jesus. Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, Ivan?”
“Yes.”
“Have you confessed all of your known sins to God, and repented from them, so that you may receive forgiveness?” (1 John 1:9; Acts 3:19)
“Yes.”
“Well then, congratulations! You have eternal life!”
Then I asked Ivan, “Now, are you ready for Jesus’ second coming? Do you have the assurance of salvation.”
“Yes I do, Greg. Thank you very much.”
Ivan looked like a heavy weight had been lifted off of his chest. We concluded that study and parted ways with a smile on our faces.

Being Led by the Word
Ivan came to learn a very important lesson that day: assurance of salvation is based not on our feelings but on the Word of God. Therefore, no matter how you feel, if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are saved! That is a Bible promise! You see, the devil can, and does, manipulate our feelings; but he cannot manipulate God's promises. So that is what we have to base our faith on.
Now, don’t get me wrong. This does not mean that God doesn’t give us feelings of happiness and joy when we obey Him, along with feelings of guilt and regret when we disobey Him. He most certainly does—to keep us on the path of righteousness. However, we should not completely rely on those feelings to determine our standing with God. We have to rely on the Word of God to determine our standing with Him. Because if the devil gets us to rely on our feelings to determine our standing with God, he will manipulate them, by bad circumstances or some other clever device, and cause us to doubt God.
Ivan and I discussed Jesus' return the day after he dreamed about it. He didn't feel ready for it, so I showed Him some scripture to give him an assurance of salvation. Afterwards, he felt relieved; and he learned a very important lesson: to trust the Word of God above feelings in matters of salvation.
Has God given you any dreams? I would like to hear about them in the comment box below.

Is it possible that what your dream was about was the advent of the "other". The Holy Spirit being poured out upon all flesh? This event will not make you "Feel" different. It evolves your thinking and comprehension of those things which are considered the mysteries of the divine state. Never give up. Seek, and you shall find...stop seeking only when you are sure of what you have found. Peace
